U.S. Patent No. 5,494,158, 6,685,017, 6,923,318, 6,923,319 and U.S. and foreign patents pending.
In the United States it’s estimated that over 3 billion injections are made yearly outside of traditional medical facilities. A recent U.S. survey on people with diabetes indicated that 93% threw their used Sharps (“pen needles/syringes”) unprotected into the trash, 3% flushed them down the toilet and only 4% placed their Sharps in puncture-resistant containers. Under pressure from many industry and consumer groups, Sharps disposal is becoming a hot topic with the increasing number of home injections and infectious blood transferred diseases. The EPA has published new guidelines and laws have passed in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Louisiana, Wisconsin, and California. California and Massachusetts will require Sharps containers for home use syringes and pen needles this year. Legislation is pending in Mississippi, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania. However, until now, not one device manufacturer has stepped up to provide a solution that works.

UltiMed, as the leader in Sharps product stewardship, now provides Sharps containers with every purchase. Rather than selling product in the traditional cardboard box, our products come standard in a Dispense & Dispose packaging system. This innovative system allows for the dispensing of unused sharps and the disposal of used sharps, all in one. UltiMed believes that by providing Sharps containers with every purchase, it will reduce accidental needle sticks worldwide. UltiMed’s unbridled commitment to quality, consumers, government regulation and the environment is virtually unmatched. |
